    • Obituary: 18 Jan 2018; Gerhard Helmut Fuchs Retired from career with Honeywell; former Oldwick resident and active member of the community Gerhard Helmut Fuchs of Heath Village in Hackettstown, N.J., died on Jan. 13, 2018, at the age of 87. Gerhard was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Cottbus, Germany. He immigrated to the United States from East Germany, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1960. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, daughter, Christine, and a brother, Fritz. He is survived by a brother, Eberhard and his wife, Susan, of New York; a son, Fritz of New Mexico; a son, Brian and his wife, Sandy, of New Jersey; a daughter, Rebecca and her partner, Kris, of New Hampshire; a son, Joachim of Virginia; a son, Otto and his wife, Stacy, of North Carolina, and grandchildren, Edward Fuchs and his fiancee, Jenny Ryan, Alexander Fuchs and his wife, Joiceann, Scott Arnold-Stanton, Erika Fuchs, Bailey Arnold-Fuchs and Haley Arnold-Fuchs. He lived for many years in Oldwick, N.J., where he and his wife raised a family before moving to Heath Village in Hackettstown, N.J. Gerhard was very active in local life, being a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, serving on the Tewksbury Township school board and planning board, and teaching boat safety for the Long Valley Power Squadron. Gerhard attended at various times, the Technical University of Berlin, New York University, University of Buffalo, and University of Maryland with degrees in chemical engineering, management, and law. Gerhard retired from the Honeywell Corporation after many years of employment working in chemical research, plant management, and as a patent attorney. He was an inventor himself with multiple patents for the manufacture of Oxalic Acid and thermal pane windows.     • Obituary: 16 Sep 2013; NORTH ORANGE- Nancy Fuchs, 74, formerly of Oldwick, NJ and North Orange, MA passed away peacefully September 14, 2013, following a long illness. Nancy was born in Montclair, NJ and graduated from Lansingburg High School in Troy, N.Y. She had a degree in special education from Trenton State College and various certifications from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Nancy served on the Hunterdon County, NJ library commission and was a long term member and past president of the Hunterdon County chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). While her children were growing, she was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Nancy worked at many nursery schools, elementary schools and at the Matheny School/Hospital in Peapack, NJ. She is survived by her husband Gerhard, a brother Alan Ward, a sister Laurie Speanburg, a son Fritz, a son Brian and his wife Sandy, a daughter Rebecca and her partner Kris, a son Joachim, a son Otto and his wife Stacy and grandchildren Edward, Alexander, Scott, Erika, Bailey and, Haley. She is predeceased by her brother Richard and her daughter Christine. There are no calling hours. A funeral will be held at the Community Church of North Orange and Tully, Corner of Main and Creamery Hill, North Orange on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Erickson officiating. Interment will follow in Jones Cemetery, Orange. Per Nancy's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hunterdon County Library, the Salvation Army or, a favorite charity.
