• Obituary: 11 Apr 2007; FOXBORO - Walter Eugene Sarty, 72, died at his home in Foxboro Monday, April 9, 2007 while under hospice care and in the comfort of his loving daughter. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley I. (Shepardson) Sarty. Born in Brockton on Oct. 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Stephen and Sadie (Demont) Sarty. He was a native of Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School, Class of 1952. He and Shirley were married at the Mansfield Methodist Church on Dec. 22, 1957. After high school, Walter delivered oil for KNAPP Oil of Easton until July 1, 1964, when he became a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Walsh Contracting in Attleboro, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired in 2000. He was an avid musician who played bass fiddle, guitar, fiddle and vocals for many local country bands. He was also a NASCAR enthusiast. Loving father of Patricia L. Driscoll of Mansfield and the late David E. Sarty. Father-in-law of Michael S. Driscoll Sr. of Mansfield. Devoted grandfather of Michaela L, Michael S. Jr., Patricia M. and Patrick D. Driscoll. Brother of Weston M. Sarty and his wife Betty of Bridgewater, Alden B. Sarty of South Easton and the late Everett K. Sarty. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 13 at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
