      Granville W. Cooper, Jr.

      HARRISBURG - Granville W. Cooper, Jr., passed away on August 29, 2008 at the age of 85. To his friends and family he was affectionately known as Coop. Born on March 5, 1923, Coop was a World War II Veteran having served with the 11th Airborne. Coop was a past president and long standing member of the Lower Paxton Lions Club and a member of Crosspoint United Methodist Church. After a successful career with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh he relocated to Harrisburg in 1982. Coop was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Granville Cooper, Sr., of Butler, PA; a brother, Kline; and a son, Granville Cooper III. He is survived by his wife, Melba June Cooper of Harrisburg; four step-daughters, Judy Brevik, Sharon Reed and husband, Craig, Cecelia Foreman and husband, Ken, Patti Carlson and husband, Rick; step-son, Bruce Campbell; and 10 step-grandchildren. A celebration service of his life will be held at 6: 30 p.m., September 2nd, at the Crosspoint United Methodist Church, 430 Colonial Road in Harrisburg, PA. After cremation, Coop will be buried with full military honors at Fort Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Paxton Lions Club, 5205 Crestwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
