  Mrs. Whitney

  Mrs. Barbara Goldsmith Whitney. 46, of 33 Beacon Hill Lane, Charlotte, died Saturday in a Charlotte hospital after a brief illness. A native of Pittsfield, Mass., she was a former resident of Asheville and Raleigh Mrs. Whitney was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas B. and Loretla Powers Goldsmith and member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Charlotte. Surviving are the husband, Kenneth L. Whitney; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Muse of Asheville and Mrs. Barbara Norby of Bristol. Tenn.; and two brothers. William T. Gold-I smith of Little Silver, N. J., and Thomas Goldsmith of Miami, Fla., Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St:. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church for services.
