Peter Delvee was born in 1744 at Holland.3,4,5,2,6 He emigrated about 1752 from Holland As a small boy, he accompanied his parents and a younger brother to the New World. On the voyage, his mother died, not an uncommon occurrence in those days. Upon reaching this shore, his father soon died leaving Peter and his brother orphans. Peter was placed with a family in Oxford, Massachusetts. His brother was also placed, but here he disappears into history. To date, no trace of him has been found.7,6 Peter and Lucy Town's marriage intentions were filed on 7 June 1766 at Oxford, Massachusetts.8,9 On 10 July 1766 at Charlton, Massachusetts, Peter married Lucy Town, daughter of Samuel Town and Bathsheba Woods.10,4,8,1,11,2,12 In the spring following his marriage, Peter moved to Warwick, built a house and started a farm. In the fall he returned to Oxford to bring his wife and new daughter, Bathsheba, back to their new home. It is said that after Lucy's arrival in Warwick, she did not see another woman for a year. Their farm was a prosperous one of over 280 acres.10,2,13 He served in the company of Captain Agrippa Wells, Col. Samuel Brewer's regiment, at Fort Ticonderoga during the Revolution. He mustered out at Deerfield 10 December 1777.14,15 Peter Delvee and Lucy Town lived at Warwick, Massachusetts, on the Delvey farm with his surviving son, Jonathan.7 Peter Delvee died on Monday, 23 February 1807 at Warwick, Massachusetts, at age 63 years. His death was recorded in Jonathan Blake's diary.14,1,16,2,12,17,13 The gravestone inscription at Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, Massachusetts, reads:
