Fred Evans Johnson was born on 2 March 1870 at Massachusetts.3,2 He was the son of Stephen Johnson Jr. and Betsey Rebecca Shepardson.1,2 Fred Evans Johnson was listed in the household of Stephen Johnson Jr. and Betsey Rebecca Shepardson in 1880 US Census at Warwick, Massachusetts.3 Fred married Hattie M. Stone. From the Delvee Reunion Records we find the following, "It was in June 1903 and a goodly number had gathered here, among them Betsey Johnson and her two sons, Merrill + Will. Dinner time drew near and Fred did not arrive and they felt much fear lest he or someone of his family must be seriously ill. A peculiar puff and rattle was heard and all eyes were on the road to see where the strange noise came from. When the strange noise came nearer t hey saw a carriage without horses coming like a mighty wind. And lo! It was Fred and his family. And all exclaimed, Why so late when you came on the wings of the wind! This was the first automobile on these grounds and what a treat for the children when later in the day, as many as could be crowded in the car were given a ride.4" Fred Evans Johnson died on Tuesday, 8 April 1930 at Northfield, Massachusetts, at age 60 years, 1 month and 6 days.4
