Helen Ruth Smith was born on 3 January 1904 at Worcester, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Robert Stanley Smith and Sarah Frances Delvey.1 According to her obituary: "Miss Smith was head librarian of the Greendale Branch, Worcester Public Library. She worked for the library for 47 years, retiring in 1969. She was formerly the children's librarian at Greendale. She wrote "Laughing Matter," a book of humorous poems and stories for children. And she created a large wall map illustrating the history of Worcester. Miss Smith was a member of First Baptist Church.1 " Helen Ruth Smith died on Saturday, 18 April 1992 at Knollwood Nursing Home, Worcester, Massachusetts, at age 88 years, 3 months and 15 days.1 Helen was buried on 21 April 1992 at Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Massachusetts.1
