Mabel Irene Hunter was born on 6 September 1908 at Athol, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Harvey Mondell Hunter and Margaret Fratus.1 Mabel Irene Hunter lived in common law with Bernard H. Barnes, son of Bernard H. Barnes Sr. and Anna Dugan, about 1950; Mabel could not marry Bernard as his legal wife would not give him a divorce until many years after Mabel's early death. Mabel Irene Hunter died of tuberculosis. Their children were taken in by Bernard's mother and Anna, his legal wife and raised.
