     [Tribe of Calvin]. James Dwight Delva was born on 1 March 1838 at Warwick, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Calvin Wilder Delva and Lucy Maria Fuller.1,2 On 2 June 1861 James married Augusta K. Partridge.2,3 On 1 October 1861, he enlisted as a private in Company G, the Twenty-Fourth Massachusetts Regiment in Readville, Massachusetts. He served under General Burnside in North Carolina and later went with the regiment to join the Army of the Patomac. James Dwight Delva was wounded on 16 August 1864 at Petersburg, Virginia, just before the assault on Petersburg. He died on Tuesday, 23 August 1864 at Beverly, New Jersey, at age 26 years, 5 months and 22 days of wounds received before Petersburg, Virginia.1,4,2 The gravestone inscription at Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, Massachusetts, reads:
