     Charles L. Barnes was born on 23 August 1921 at Athol, Massachusetts.2,1 He was the son of Loriston L Barnes and Lydia Graves.1 Charles L. Barnes graduated in 1940 at Athol High School, Athol, Massachusetts.1 On 20 June 1953 at Orange, Massachusetts, Charles married Barbara Ann McKenney, daughter of Everett Arnold McKenney and Iva Irene Jones.3 Charles L. Barnes and Barbara Ann McKenney lived in 1996 at 232 West River Street, Orange, Massachusetts.2 According to his obituary, "He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa and Saipan, also serving with the Seabee's as an electrician. He worked as an electrician at the former Union Twist Drill in Athol, Rodney Hunt Co. in Orange and the Walter E. Fernald School in Templeton, for many years until his retirement in 1986. He was a 33rd degree mason, member and past master of the Star-Athol Lodge of Masons for more than 50 years, past High Priest of Crescent Chapter, past illustrious Master of Titus-Strong Council, past commander Athol-Orange Commandery, past district deputy Grand High Priest, member of the Knight's of York Cross of Honor. Past Thrice Potent Master, past Sovereign Prince, past Most Wise Master all part of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Greenfield. He was a member of the King Philip York Rite College, member of Red Cross of Constantine, Past District Deputy Grand Marshall, past Grand Principal Conductor of the works of the Grand Council of Massachusetts. Member of the Aleppo Temple of Shriners, in Wilmington, and past worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star Themis Chapter 30, in Athol. He was a member of the Orange Senior Citizens Club, the Athol Golden Agers, and the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church. As a young man he attained the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and attending band concerts with his wife, Barbara.1" Charles L. Barnes died on Saturday, 11 March 2000 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 78 years, 6 months and 17 days at his son's home in Tully.1 Charles was buried on 15 March 2000 at Silver Lake Cemetery, Athol, Massachusetts.1
