Curley Henry Waldo Brown was born on 22 January 1854 at Warwick, Massachusetts.1,3 He was the son of Israel Curley Brown and Zorada Shepardson.1,2,3 He was deaf.3 Curley Henry Waldo Brown entered at the Deaf and Dumb Institute, Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1870 where he taught broom-making and mattress making. He was later in charge of the carpenter shop.3 On 6 August 1877 at Council Bluffs, Iowa, Curley married Rebecca Ellen Surber, daughter of A Surber and Nancy unknown. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. B. Talbot, the first Superintendent of the Deaf and Dumb Institute.3 Curley Henry Waldo Brown and Rebecca Ellen Surber appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Lewis, Iowa.4 Curley Henry Waldo Brown was a carpenter according to the 1880 Census.4 He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Council Bluffs.3 On 24 November 1898 at Fell City, Iowa, Curley married Mary Louise Mulchi.3 On 31 May 1911 Curley married Lullu M. Martin.3 Curley Henry Waldo Brown died on Wednesday, 5 March 1941 at Woodbine, Iowa, at age 87 years, 1 month and 11 days from the flu.3 Curley was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa; in section D, lot 72, number 3.3
