Emily Caroline Delvee was born on 4 October 1848 at Warwick, Massachusetts, Hockett (2002) gives her birth place as Dedham, Massachusetts.1,4,5 She was the daughter of George William Alvin Delvee and Olive M. Coy.1,2,3 Emily Caroline Delvee was nick named Carrie.5 On 29 July 1866 at the bride's parent's house, Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, Emily married Henry Hockett, son of Thomas Hockett and Susannah Emery.6,1,7,5 Emily Caroline Delvee and Henry Hockett appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Deer Creek, Allen County, Kansas.8 Emily Caroline Delvee died on Tuesday, 30 December 1913 at Colony, Allen County, Kansas, at age 65 years, 2 months and 26 days of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was stricken at 8 am, and died at 2 pm.1,4,5,2 She was called Carrie E. Hockett on her death certificate (#3065), filed in Topeka on 8 January 1921. Emily was buried on 2 January 1914 at Pleasent Valley Cemetery, Iola, Allen County, Kansas.5 The gravestone inscription at Pleasent Valley Cemetery, Iola, Allen County, Kansas, reads:
