Allen Lidge Slagle was a farmer.2 He was born on 30 September 1923 at Newcastle, Dixon County, Nebraska.3,1,4,2 He was the son of Levy Price Slagle and Emma Belle Boardman.1,2 He joined the U.S. Navy on 28 December 1941 in Yankton, and served until 23 April 1946.2 Allen Lidge Slagle was a member of at Yankton, Yankton County, South Dakota; Ernest Bowyer Post VFW 791.4 According to Iris Hochhalter, "Uncle Al had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always telling about pulling some joke on someone.4" He died on Monday, 21 December 1981 at Utica, Seward County, Nebraska, at age 58 years, 2 months and 21 days from his gun accidentally discharging when he slipped on ice on going outside to shoot a stray dog.3,4,2 Allen was buried on 24 December 1981 at St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery, Siegel, South Dakota.4,2
