Elihu Howard Kelton

     Elihu Howard Kelton was born on 4 January 1897 at Waltham, Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of George Howard Kelton and Ruth Sarah Coolidge.¹ The following is recorded in the Delvey Reunion Records of 1918, "Elihu Howard Kelton, a Harvard sophomore, enlisted in May 1917 training until late in the fall at Long Island when he was sent to France to complete his training at aviation school, after he had qualified as Pilot. he was retrained at the school as an instructor for some time, as the airships were not yet completed. he did not receive his commission of 1st Lieut until May 1918. He was in the 185th Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group and was on the front until he was shot down and taken prisoner Oct 30th and was held for about six weeks when he escaped. Lieut. Kelton is the great grandson of Peter Delvey.³" On 11 April 1925 at Brattleboro, Vermont, Elihu married Charlotte Frances Taylor, daughter of Wallace Amasa Taylor and Gertrude Mercy Jordan. The date of marriage to Charlotte Taylor is the legal, but"secret" marriage. They were publicly "married" in June of thatyear.^1,2 Elihu Howard Kelton died on Thursday, 11 September 1975 at Palmerton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, at age 78 years, 8 months and 7 days.² Elihu was buried at Lower Towamensing Cemetery, Palmerton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.²
