George Henry Miller was born on 25 September 1891 at Northfield, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Leonidas Clark Miller and Louise Maria Whitaker.1 He joined the U.S. Army in July 1918 as a private in Company H, the 42 Infantry. In August he was taken ill with diphtheria and measles. He was discharged from the Army 29 January 1919.2 On 2 January 1928 at Brattleboro, Vermont, George married Rena Pearl Beaudry, daughter of William Beaudry and Donalda Pauquette.1,2 George and Rena met while Rena, who was an L.P.N, was caring for a family member of the Lueys in Northfield, Massachusetts. George had dairy cows and delivered milk in the area. One of his stops was the Lueys! Before their marriage, George sold the family farm, his parents having died, and Rena, not wanting to live on a farm, having been brought up on a farm and knowing the work involved. Owing to his Army experience, George's health wasn't up to farm work either. They bought a home on 217 Western Avenue in Brattleboro. He worked as a laborer until he lost fingers on a lathe at Chruches Manufacturing Company. He then purchased a used furniture and antique shop, which he ran until the 1940's. George then became a caretaker for some summer homes in the area. He was always a farmer hat heart. His garden was a picture to behold, and he loved to take company down to the cellar to show off all the caned goods, Rena had prepared from the garden.2 George Henry Miller died on Sunday, 11 September 1960 at Brattleboro, Vermont, at age 68 years, 11 months and 17 days.1,2 George was buried at Northfield Farms Cemetery, Northfield, Massachusetts.2
