     Helen Rachel Hastings was born on 31 March 1905 at Gill, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Luther M. Hastings and Lottie Hale.1 On 27 August 1928 at Bernardston, Massachusetts, Helen married Holman Hugh Whitaker, son of Charles Herbert Whitaker and Orra May Hale. The obituary of Helen states that their marriage was the 28th.2,1,3 According to her obituary, "Whitaker worked at an early age at the former Pocket Book Factory in Greenfield and also for a short period for the U.S. Postal Service in Bernardston.1" Helen Rachel Hastings died on Saturday, 3 May 2003 at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, Greenfield, Massachusetts, at age 98 years, 1 month and 3 days.1 Helen was buried on 6 May 2003 at Center Cemetery, Bernardston, Massachusetts.1
