Margaret N. Ward
Margaret Nowell Ward was nick named Peggy. She was born on 29 June 1900 at North Orange, Massachusetts.2,3 She was the daughter of Everett Daniel Ward and Cora May Harding.1,2,3,4 Margaret Nowell Ward graduated in 1919 from Orange High School.3 On 18 July 1925 at Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Margaret married Donald Herrick Stone, son of Walter H. Stone and Rena Herrick.4 According to her obituary, she "worked at the former Minute Tapioca Co. several years and also was a bookkeeper at Chamberlain's Hardware. Mrs. Stone was an accomplished pianist and organist and was organist for several years at the Community Church of North Orange and Tully. She was an avid gardener, well-known in the area for her rock gardens. She was a lifelong member of the First Universalist Church in Orange and served as chairman of the church fairs for many years. She later organized the "La Petite" flower shows which were held at the church for many years. She also made quilts and raided rugs for various church projects. She was a past president of the Orange Women's Club and was instrumental in forming the Garden Clubdivision of the Women's Club. She was inducted into the Clara Barton Sisterhood of the Universalist-Unitarian Women's Federation in 1979.3" Margaret Nowell Ward died on Friday, 4 December 1998 at Quabbin Valley Healthcare Center, Athol, Massachusetts, at age 98 years, 5 months and 5 days.3 Margaret was buried at South Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts.3
