     Ernest Clifton Atherton was born on 28 May 1873 at Gill, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Oliver Clinton Atherton and Rosella Scott.1,2 On 31 October 1895 at Gill, Massachusetts, Ernest married Jennie Ruby Delvey, daughter of George Nelson Delvey and Pollina Evaleen Delvy.1 Ernest Clifton Atherton and Jennie Ruby Delvey moved to Orange, Massachusetts, in 1920.2 According to his obituary, "He was master of the local and Franklin-Worcester Pomona granges while still a resident there. Employed 25 years by Minute Tapioca Company, Mr. Atherton was in charge of landscaping and of the grounds at The Ranch during most of that time. He retired six years ago. He was a member of Central Congregational church and had served as a deacon, being honorary deacon at the time of his death. He had also served on the cemetery commission and was a member of the Minute Tapioca Old Timers club.2" Ernest Clifton Atherton died on Thursday, 4 January 1951 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 77 years, 7 months and 7 days.1,3
