     [Clan of Lucy, Tribe of Hannah]. Simon Peter Shepardson was born on 17 April 1843 at Orange, Massachusetts. Allred (2002) and the Orange VR give his birth date as 17 April 1846.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Simon Peter Shepardson and Sarah Caroline Trim.1,2,3,4 Simon Peter Shepardson was a teamster in 1864.1 He enlisted on 29 October 1864, in Company F, the 61st Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry in Springfield, Massachusetts for a one year term. He is listed as 5 feet, 11 3/4 inches tall, with blue eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. On 21 July 1865, he was hospitalized at the Slough General Hospital in Alexandria with dysentery.1 He died on Tuesday, 22 August 1865 at Alexandria, Virginia, at age 22 years, 4 months and 5 days from chronic diarrhea due to dysentery.1 Simon was buried on 23 August 1865 at US Hospital Cemetery at Slough General Hospital, Alexandria, Virginia.1
