J. D. Hatfield, son of Abel Hatfield and Rebecca Somers.5,6,4 She was a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, President of the Woman's Relief Corps, and a member of the Foreign Missionary and Lady's Aid Society of her church.6 Ellen Mariah Shepardson and Capt. J. D. Hatfield lived at Neligh, Nebraska. Ellen Mariah Shepardson died on Thursday, 9 May 1895 at Neligh, Nebraska, at age 46 years, 2 months and 27 days.1,6 Ellen was buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Neligh, Nebraska.4
