PETERSHAM - Rosamond C. Coolidge, 87, of 26 South Main St., died Friday night in Gardner Skilled Nursing Center after an illness.
She leaves a sister, Ruth M. Coolidge of Petersham, with whom she lived; three nephews, William Bowley of Hurst, Texas, Wayne Bowley of Mills, N.H., and Ralph Bowley of Somersworth, N.H.; grandnephews and grandnieces. She was born in Petersham, daughter of Edward O. and Mabel A. (Cook) Coolidge. She graduated from Petersham High School in 1929 and attended North Shore Baby Hospital School in Salem.
Mrs. Coolidge was a member of First Congregational Parish Unitarian Church and its Branch Alliance. She was accepted into the Clara Barton Sisterhood at the Unitarian Universalist Women's Federation for outstanding community service. She was past president of the Petersham Historical Society. She was former master of the Petersham Grange and was its lecturer several times.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Congregational Parish Unitarian Church, on the common. After cremation, burial will be in East Street Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Petersham Center School, Attn., Mrs. Douglas Phillips, Spring Street, Petersham, MA 01366; or Gardner Skilled Nursing Center, Activity Fund, 155 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440; or may be left at the funeral home.
