The genealogy on this site was produced by Second Site from data stored in The Master Genealogist, a Genealogical Data Base program produced by Wholly Genes, Inc. I cannot recommend these products more highly. The Master Genealogist is, by far, the best genealogy program on the market today.

There has been a great debate amongst genealogists as to publishing information on living persons. The major worry is identity theft. Yet completely leaving living persons out of an on-line genealogy makes it far less useful to the researcher. The use of "mother's maiden name" has virtually ceased, and even when used further information is required such as birth date and place, or social security number. None of that additional information will be displayed on-line on the Delvee site. Only names of living persons will be displayed and their marriage information.

I have tried to document all sources used in my research. Each source has been evaluated and ranked as Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, or a guess. All primary and secondary sources are foot noted regardless of the number of such sources. Where there are three or more secondary sources or a primary source, then the tertiary sources are not foot noted. It is my hope that any Genealogist to follow, will be easily able to retrace my footsteps.I do realize however, that letters sent to me will be difficult for others to follow in succeding years.

Place names are always a problem in genealogy. Whenever possible I have tried to include the county along with the town or city for place names. I have tried not to use abbreviations as they tend to change over the years, and even our official postal state abbreviations may not be familiar to someone from overseas. I have tried to tie a place to every event, which while lengthening the text, provides clarity for trying to track a specific event. Given the shifting boundaries and names, it is often difficult to give locations. By in large, I have opted for the modern name, so that people may locate it on a map, and possibly plan a visit. In a few cases the original names have been preserved for the sake of historical accuracy. These choices are wholly based upon the whims of the author.

If there are questions are comments, my e-mail address is Genealogist@Delvee.org If you send corrections, please do not use page numbers. Each person (not living) has a number next to their gender. Please use this number to identify people, as this will allow me to easily locate them within the database.

These numbers are generated by my database and have no meaning other then allowing me to easily track the individual. Peter Delva is of course number 1, but his is the only number with meaning.
