"Richard W. Dunican, age 76, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 following extended heath complications.
He was born March 10, 1938 in Gardner, Massachusetts, the son of Percy and Ruth (Shepardson) Dunican. Following graduation from Athol High School, Richard received x-ray technician training from Greenfield Hospital in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Although he was born in Massachusetts he moved to California where he was married to Mary Dubriske, a Gardner Massachusetts girl, on Sept. 7, 1957 in Lakeside, California. Richard excelled in his chosen career as an X-ray Technician, first in the aviation field and later in the medical industry, eventually retiring as a Senior Tech in 1999 from Kaiser Permanente Hospital in San Diego. They lived in California for 45 years before they relocated to Monroe, Wis., in 2007 and Madison in 2010.
He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Monroe, Wis. He loved to bowl and won many trophies with his Kaiser Bowling Team. He also liked to play on their volleyball team as well. Richard had quite a sense of humor. He enjoyed camping with his family and spending his vacations at Avila Beach, as well as going to Las Vegas to play the machines with his wife. He loved to play cards with his parents and family, continuing the traditions with his children and grandchildren. He coached little league with his sons in California. Richard also liked to watch and attend sporting events of all kinds. But what meant the most to him was his love for God and family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary; three children, Daniel (Lorraine) Dunican of Monroe, Suzette (Christopher) Lenhart of Madison, and Jetta (Richard) Newman of Monroe; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard (Joan) Dunican and David Dunican; sister, Arline Duguay; a sister-in-law, Ann Dunican; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ray; a daughter, Therese; a brother, Donald Dunican; two sisters, Kathy Truehart and Phyllis Dunican; and a brother-in-law, Virgil Duguay.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at OAK PARK PLACE, 718 Juniper Dr. Madison on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with cake following at Suzette's house, 202 Rustic Dr., Madison." |
