  SPRINGFIELD - On Saturday, January 24, 2004, Alton Atherton, 64, passed away at Baystate Medical Center. Alton was born in Orange, MA on December 27, 1939 son of the late George and Dorothy Atherton. Alton enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and he especially enjoyed traveling. His favorite destinations were Jamaica and Florida. Alton leaves many friends to cherish his memory at Multicultural Community Services including, Winston, Ron, Ernest, David, Anthony, Jerry, Zinab, Sandy, Wally, Baraca, Maria, and Attorney Hyman Darling. All are invited to a Funeral Home Service Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Sampson Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll cemetery in Palmer. A Calling hour will be held on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
