  GARDNER - Freda L. (Coolidge) Simonds, 100, of 161 Ryan St. and Eastwood Pines Nursing Home, died Tuesday in Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Carl Simonds, died in 1962. She leaves three nieces, Barbara J. Duplessie of Petersham, Joan Lavoie of Brockton and Sylvia Shafa of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Born in Petersham, she was a daughter of Louis and Ella (Houghton) Coolidge, and had lived in Gardner 80 years. She graduated from Petersham High School. Mrs. Simonds, a registered nurse, did private duty nursing and was employed by various hospitals and nursing homes. She graduated from the nursing school at Natick Hospital. Following cremation, graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in East Street Cemetery, Petersham. The Rev. Gordon P. Tate will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Area Animal Shelter, French King Highway, Greenfield, 01301.
